Haydn Allen is presented in the exhibition The Lurid World, George Paton Gallery. Haydn is a Melbourne-based multidisciplinary artist studying at the VCA. Through a practice that is both photographic and sculptural, he uses primarily found materials in a process of creation in response to consumption. Through a broader practice involving painting, photography, video, performance, and sculpture, Haydn often explores notions of childhood, play, sexuality, and the psychedelic. Responding to an increasingly frightening world, Haydn’s work in Mudfest explores the discontent of living in a consumer society as it flounders through capitalism.
