Small Fish, Big Pond: Finding Your Feet in the Film Industry

Join established Australian Filmmakers Peter Mattessi, Rita Walsh and Rosie Jones as they dare to unpack their approach to breaking into the film industry. Ask questions, pick up some nifty resources, and hear it all from the professionals themselves!
Rita Walsh graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts with a Bachelor of Creative Arts in 2002. She works as a producer mainly in film and television, and has credits on a number of award-winning international productions. Many of her creative collaborations stem from connections made while at university.
Peter Mattessi writes television drama. In the UK, he writes for EastEnders and Holby City, and was Senior Script Editor at EastEnders for many years. In Australia he currently writes for Neighbours and a new drama in development with Matchbox, and has written children’s shows Worst Year Of My Life and Specky Magee.
Rosie Jones is a VCA graduate and an award-winning documentary writer, director and editor. Her latest feature documentary is The Family, about Australia’s most notorious cult (MIFF 2016, Film Critics Circle of Australia (FCCA) Best Feature Doc 2017).
